Not Just Healed but Whole – Complete Redemption pt. 1

Scroll down for notes on tonight’s teaching

  1. Intro
  • We’re going to do a lot of repeating in this Bible study series
    • A lot of recapping before we introduce new information
    • It’s good to hear things over and over again… so don’t just tune out saying, “Oh, I heard that last week.”
  • When Jesus shouted TETELESTAI – IT IS FINISHED from the cross it was a cry of victory!
    • it was a declaration of consummation… He was saying, it’s ended, it’s done, it’s over!
  • In Revelation 21:5-6, John heard Jesus declare from the throne… “Behold, I make ALL things new. Write: for these words are faithful and true. It is DONE! I AM the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End.”
    • Done is ginomai in Greek which means to emerge; transitioning from one condition or one realm to another; it signifies a change of condition, state or place
    • He had just said in verse 5 – I make ALL new!
  • IT IS DONE!  ALL MADE NEW!
    • IT IS FINISHED!
    • We are WHOLE – nothing missing, nothing broken in our lives HERE and NOW.
  • And like I said a few weeks ago, I can’t tell you how big grace can be in your thinking… how far you take IT IS FINISHED and you can’t tell me how big it is in my life
    • Jesus said to the disciples in Matt 16 – who do men say that I am
      • And the disciples answered “ some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
      • And Jesus said “BUT who do you say that I am?”
      • And Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God”
    • Peter’s answer was not the popular opinion of the masses
      • Peter’s revelation from the Father was bigger than that of popular opinion
    • Allow God to continue to reveal Himself to you, allow your opinion of Him to constantly grow and change regardless of the popular opinion of the masses.
    • Don’t be afraid to think outside the box of religious doctrine – we’re not talking about getting off on a realm of understanding that doesn’t include the fullness of th

We should be growing in grace – increasing in our understanding and knowledge of it

  1. Recap
  • We looked at Hebrews 1:1-3: God who at various times and in various ways spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets; (2) has in these last days spoken to us by His Son whom He has appointed Heir of ALL things through Whom also He made the worlds; (3) Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of his person (or the exact representation of His nature), and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
    • The word “by” in verse 2 is the word “en” and can also be translated IN
      • God has spoken to us IN and BY His Son
  • What has He spoken to us IN and BY His Son?
    • v. 3 says when He had by Himself purged our sins, He SAT DOWN at the right hand of the Majesty on high
      • He purged our sins – by Himself… no help from us
    • He SAT DOWN in a position of REST at the right hand of the Majesty on High!
  • Then we looked at Hebrews 8:1: Now this is the MAIN POINT of the things we are saying. We have such a High Priest who IS SEATED at the Right Hand of the throne of the majesty in the Heavens
    • So, in other words, HE IS SEATED is the main point or the sum (the total) of what God has spoken IN and BY His Son
  • Rev 3:21 says He overcame and SAT DOWN with His Father on His throne
    • He SAT DOWN because He OVERCAME
    • Hebrews 1:3 – He purged ALL sin for ALL time and He SAT DOWN
    • He finished the work and SAT DOWN
    • Mirror:  And everyone’s personal triumph will be celebrated together with me, by being jointly seated together in my Kingship! It is on exactly the same basis of my victory celebration and my joint seatedness with my Father in his throne-room!
  • What work did He finish?
    • Ours – mankinds
    • He subdued the earth, He ruled over it SO THAT there is nothing left to do – ALL made new!
    • and NOW from the Father’s perspective it is as if the “fall” NEVER happened
  • His sitting down is the equivalent of God finishing His work and resting on the 7th day
    • God rested because everything, including Adam and Eve (who were ALL mankind at the time) was finished, perfect, complete – nothing missing, nothing broken
    • Jesus SAT DOWN because everything, including ALL mankind, was finished, perfect, complete – nothing missing, nothing broken
    • So, if the fall has been eradicated through the finished work of Jesus then so has everything connected with it – sin, death, the nature of Adam, sickness, disease, poverty, fear, etc.
  • And then last week we looked at Hebrews 10:10-14 and saw that there was only ONE sacrifice and it was for ALL time and for ALL people – Once and for all!
    • And the writer of Hebrews said that it was through (which is dia meaning completely successfully through) that ONE sacrifice we WERE sanctified
    • And then Jesus SAT DOWN forever having perfected forever those who were sanctified.
      • Perfected forever means COMPLETED FOREVER
    • He offered the ONE sacrifice (for ALL) and He sat down FOREVER because He perfected or completed those (all – everyone) that He sanctified (made holy).
  • This is the main point that we need to get.
    • We may not be experiencing it, but that doesn’t change the fact that…
    • It is finished, and He sat down forever because He sanctified us and completed or perfected us FOREVER
    • And as we hear correctly this main point, we will begin to believe it and experience the benefits of His finished work
      • Notice I said experience the benefits of it
        • We don’t believe and BECOME righteous, perfect, holy, WHOLE, etc
        • We believe it and then walk in the experience of who we have always been in the Father’s perception.

And that brings us to tonight’s lesson

III. A Complete Redemption

  • Eph 1:15-22: Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, (16) Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; (17) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: (18) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (19) And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, (20) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, (21) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: (22) And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
  • Notice verse 1 says your faith IN the Lord
  • Where is our faith?
    • IN HIM
  • Paul said in Galatians 2:20: I live IN and BY (en in Greek) the faith OF the Son of God
  • There is not my faith and the faith of Jesus. Ephesians 4:5 says there is ONE faith
    • It’s all His faith and we live IN and BY His faith
    • our faith is simply resting IN His faith
  • look at verse 20 here in Ephesians 1: Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places
  • knowing that the main point is He SAT DOWN (Heb 8:1), should help us understand Paul’s motivation in this prayer
    • Paul’s prayer is that believers comprehend the COMPLETENESS of their redemption
    • he’s passionate about them comprehending their completeness, their perfection in Christ
      • that they understand the TOTALITY – the far-reaching effects of it
      • understanding that this redemption is a redemption that has embraced and finished ALL – spirit, soul and body
  • Your physical man is as redeemed as the spirit man is!
    • This is what he is passionate that they understand
    • And he brings his prayer to the main point in v. 20 — and seated Him at His right hand
  • And here’s where many people have missed it on this main point that He is SEATED
    • we all know Christ is seated at the right hand of God and completed His work
    • but it’s NOT His work He completed — it was our work He completed
      • He obeyed so you wouldn’t have to
  • As believers we have put a lot of emphasis on obeying God
    • So, it can be hard to hear with religious ears that He obeyed so you wouldn’t have to
  • But His obeying so we wouldn’t have to is good news!!
  • His obedience means that ours is not required OR needed in order to be right with the Father
    • He bore sickness, so you would never have to be sick
    • He bore poverty, so you would never have to be poor
    • He took the chastisement for your peace, so you wouldn’t have to be insane, depressed, discouraged, emotionally distraught, etc.
  • But because we haven’t HEARD what the Father spoke to us IN and BY the Son we just continue struggling trying to obey and “finish” what is already finished.
  • And what was it that the Father spoke to us IN and BY the Son?
    • that we have a High Priest who is SEATED
    • And that He finished all… there is nothing more for Him or us to do… and He is seated at the right hand of God.
  • Eph 2:5: Even when we were dead in sins, has made us alive together with Christ, by grace you are saved
    • Who did He make alive?  YOU
      • made us alive — aorist indicative – past tense fact!
        • Active voice meaning the subject (God) did it – He made us alive, we had not part in it
        • Made alive is suzóopoieó which is two words
          • Sun meaning together with
          • Zoopoieo meaning quickened; made alive
      • We were dead in sins but because of God’s great love for us (v.4) He made us alive together with Christ… co-quickened us together with Him
        • Co-alive with Christ!
  • v. 6 and He raised us up together and SEATED us in the Heavenly places in Christ Jesus
    • raised and seated both aorist indicative tense — past tense fact that happened
    • active voice – all God’s doing; we had no part in it
  • When did it happen?
    • When God raised Christ… He simultaneously raised us with Him
      • Christ was only raised and seated ONCE
        • So, our being raised and seated TOGETHER WITH HIM must’ve also only happened ONCE
  • Mirror Translation of v. 5-6: This is how grace rescued us: while we were yet in that state of deadness and indifference in our 1deviations, we were co-quickened together with Christ! We had nothing nothing to do with it. By grace you are – having been saved! Grace defines us and interprets our salvation. (6) We are co-included in his resurrection. We are also co-elevated in his ascension to be equally present in the throne room of the heavenly realm where we are co-seated with him in his executive authority. We are fully represented in Christ Jesus.
  • So, that leads to the question, who is the “us” that was raised and seated with Christ?
    • 1 Cor 15:21-22: For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all (pas) in Greek) die, even so (in the same manner) in Christ shall all (pas) be made alive.
      • All (pas) died in Adam
      • All (pas) were made alive in Christ
      • Mirror: 21  The same mankind who died in a man was raised again in a man. 22   In Adam all died; in Christ all are made alive.
    • ALL mankind was raised and seated with Christ
    • Co raised…. co seated… ALL mankind!
      • it’s not just Jesus who’s seated… you’re seated with Him!
  • Where are we seated?
    • IN the heavenly places in Christ at the Father’s right hand
  • Remember, that the kingdom of God is within you
    • So, “in the heavenlies” isn’t some distant abstract idea
  • We’ve been taught to “just close your eyes and imagine yourself seated at the right hand of God”
    • and your thoughts soar out there past the moon, past the planets, past the stars, etc.
    • your thoughts go out THERE somewhere and you’re reaching out THERE
    • but this is not some far off distant thing!
      • the kingdom of God is WITHIN you
  • What he’s telling you is this is an inner present reality… seated IN Christ
    • in is a position of rest
    • our spirit is at rest
    • AND our soul and body which is equally fully redeemed should be experiencing the same rest
  • We’ve got the idea that the natural man (soul and body) still has somethings to work out here in this life
    • NO
    • the natural man IS AS redeemed as the spirit man… equally redeemed!  FULLY redeemed! NOW
  • Jesus has COMPLETELY REVERSED everything Adam brought to corruption
    • EVERYTHING completely reversed… ALL completely made new
    • So, your natural man ought to be experiencing, ought to be living in the revelation of FAR ABOVE ALL PRINCIPALITY, POWERS, MIGHT AND DOMINION
    • And we’re going to study that more over the next several weeks
  • So, when we have HEARD (with understanding) that which the Father has spoken to us IN and BY the Son
    • that He is SEATED
    • that we are seated with Him
    • that He finished everything and made ALL things new
    • and that it is an inner present reality we live here and now
  • then that revelation will become the manifested reality of our life — FAR ABOVE!
  • Eph 1:19 in the Mirror: I pray that you will be overwhelmed with an understanding of the magnitude of his power in the finished work of Christ. This is what results in the dynamic of your faith.
  1. Closing
  • This is what God has been trying to reveal to the church all these centuries since the resurrection of Christ
    • it was the main point of the things they were saying
    • that’s why we looked at it in Ephesians — it wasn’t just for the Hebrews
    • the author of Hebrews AND Paul in Ephesians is saying the same thing
      • that this is the main point — HE SAT DOWN
        • and it’s the point that the Father has been trying to communicate to His church all these centuries
  • Paul said in ALL these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us
    • what does it mean to be more than a conqueror?
      • it means that we are the recipients of a position and a condition that we didn’t have to fight for
        • Just like David who fought and conquered and Solomon was a recipient of David’s victory — Solomon as a result reigned in peace
  • Isaiah 40:1-2 says speak kindly to Jerusalem and tell her that her warfare has ended
      • and still the church is devising activities of warfare to get involved with so that they can “by themselves” or in “conjunction with Jesus” purge their sins.
      • we’re still reading books on generational curses and doctrines of demons and practices of Judaism, and how to be free from demons
        • I believe the people who write those books are sincere people who just want to help people
        • and I believe the preachers of those messages just want to help people
      • But you have got to be wise and discerning — realizing that what God has been trying to speak to His people through the apostles and prophets in the New Covenant and through the ages is that Jesus is SEATED and you are SEATED with Him
      • The warfare has ended!
    • The work is finished, completed, nothing more for you to do
      • no reason for you to be concerned with ancestors who might have had a generational anything that came to you
      • and no concern with any disease that has to do with heredity!
  • Exodus 14:13: And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever.
    • The Egyptians were the enemy… the oppressors of Israel for 430 years
    • Israel had been enslaved to them… in bondage… in fear of this enemy
  • Moses said NO FEAR!
  • And then he said STAND STILL AND SEE!
    • stand still – rest
    • see – consider, experience, understand, perceive
  • What were they to stand still and see?
    • Their salvation – this enemy you will see no more
  • The same is true for us today… we can rest in Him understanding that our salvation includes never seeing the enemy again!
    • His salvation was the conquering, the total removal of the enemy… of your oppressor
    • We don’t have an enemy to war against; the warfare is over!
  • Everything we teach must be based on the MAIN THING – He is seated and we are seated with Him
    • Col 1:28: It’s Him we preach that we may present every man perfect and complete and finished in Christ
      • every man perfect means every man finished
      • every man is pas anthropos – all mankind, or all humanity
      • Mirror: This is the essence and focus of our message; we awaken everyone’s mind, instructing every individual by bringing them into full understanding (flawless clarity) in order that we may prove (present) everyone perfect in Christ.
    • Remember Hebrews 10:14 said that He offered the ONE sacrifice (for ALL) and He sat down FOREVER because He perfected or completed those (ALL mankind) that He sanctified (made holy)
      • all humanity sanctified
      • all humanity co-raised and co-seated
      • all humanity finished, perfect, complete in Christ
      • Finished – nothing more for us to do except enter into rest
  • Jesus delivered, He healed, He justified, He sanctified and He prospered ALL men for ALL time at ONE time and He SAT DOWN

Next week we’ll continue and looking at our complete redemption
