Not Just Healed but Whole – Complete Redemption – pt 2

The video for tonight’s Bible study…. notes are below
I. Recap
  • John 19:30 – Jesus said IT IS FINISHED!
  • Hebrews 1:1-3 – In these last days God has spoken to us IN and By His Son
    • This isn’t referring to the words in red in your Bible
  • So what did God speak to us?
    • v. 3 When He had by Himself purged our sin He SAT DOWN at the right hand of the Majesty on high
    • How important is that?
  • Hebrews 8:1: Now this is the MAIN POINT of the things we are saying. We have such a High Priest who IS SEATED at the Right Hand of the throne of the majesty in the Heavens
  • Rev 3:21: He overcame and SAT DOWN with His Father on His throne
    • His sitting down is the equivalent of God finishing His work and resting on the 7th day
      • God rested because everything, including Adam and Eve (who were ALL mankind at the time) was finished, perfect, complete – nothing missing, nothing broken
      • Likewise, Jesus SAT DOWN because everything, including ALL mankind, was finished, perfect, complete – nothing missing, nothing broken
  • Hebrews 10:10-14 and saw that there was only ONE sacrifice and it was for ALL time and for ALL people – Once and for all!
    • And the writer of Hebrews said that it was completely, successfully through (dia) that ONE sacrifice we WERE sanctified
    • And then Jesus SAT DOWN forever having perfected forever those who were sanctified.
      • Perfected forever means COMPLETED FOREVER
    • He offered the ONE sacrifice (for ALL) and He sat down FOREVER because He perfected or completed those (all – everyone) that He sanctified (made holy).
  • Ephesians 2:5-6 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
  • When were we raised and seated?
    • When God raised Christ — He raised us simultaneously
    • And we are SEATED with Him in heavenly places
      • This is our position… seated because IT IS FINISHED… in a position of rest
  • We are finished, perfect, complete – nothing missing, nothing broken — WHOLE
II. ALL things under our feet!
Ps 110:1 …. sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies your footstool
Now let’s read this in 1 Cor 15:20-27: But now is Christ risen from the dead and become the first fruits of them that slept. (21) For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. (22) For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. (23) But every man in his own order: Christ the first fruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. (24) Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. (25) For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. (26) The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. (27) For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
  • So, if everything about completion is true, then why does He say UNTIL all enemies your footstool?
    • If we’ve already said it’s FINISHED and He’s SEATED, haven’t they already been placed under His feet?
    • Ephesians 1:22 tells us they have – And God put everything under His feet and made Him head over everything for the church
      • The word “put” is an aorist indicative active – past tense fact; a finished work; active – God did it
    • and v. 27 here in 1 Cor 15 reaffirms it – He has put ALL things under His feet
      • again the word put is aorist indicative active – past tense fact; a finished work; that God did
  • So what is Paul talking about in v.25?
    • he’s referring to the personal experience
      • religion tells us experience doesn’t matter but yes it does
      • tangible experience and feelings matter
      • God wants you to feel good — to feel better about your relationship with Him, better about your possibilities, better about your future, better about your destiny
      • so feelings and experience matter
    • Paul is referring to the personal experience of each individual
      • in other words, God’s truth becoming your truth
        • YES all things are under His feet – that’s His truth
        • He’s seated – that’s His truth
  • Ephesians 2:6: And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
    • You are seated with Him so all things are under your feet – that’s His truth
      • Aorist indicative active – past tense fact; finished work; God did it!
    • You were raised with Him
    • You were seated with Him
    • And if you are seated with Him THEN all things under His feet are also under yours!
      • Now His truth needs to become your truth
Ephesians 3:8-11: Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; (9) And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: (10) To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,(11) According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
  • So, in 1 Cor 15:25 Paul was referring to this becoming each man’s personal experience
    • God’s truth becoming your truth.. and walking in the experience of that truth
  • We talked last week about the message that God has been trying to get across to humanity and certainly the church for the last 2000 years is — He is SEATED
  • In verse 8 Paul says that there was grace given to him to preach Christ’s unsearchable riches
    • Unsearchable in the dictionary means the bottomless, unplumbed, deep, immeasurable riches or abundance of Christ
    • Mirror Bible says the unexplored treasure of Christ!
  • In verse 9 he says the mandate of his message is to make ALL MEN SEE
    • the word all means each one and see means to understand
  • He says God has graced him and given him the ministry to make all see, to make each person perceive or understand.
  • To see and understand what?
    • He talks about the mystery
      • Colossians 1:27 says the mystery is Christ in you, the hope of glory!
      • Galatians 1:16 Paul says It pleased God to reveal His Son IN me that I might preach Him IN the Gentiles
    • to make each one see, and understand the mystery hidden for ages but now revealed – that Christ is IN them
    • this same Paul writes in Romans 10:20 about a God who reveals Himself even to those who do not seek Him
      • Romans 10:20: Isaiah then is very bold and says: I was found IN those not seeking Me; I manifest Myself IN those not inquiring
  • Paul’s testimony was not – after many months of spiritual discipline culminating in a long period of fasting and prayer Jesus eventually revealed Himself to me because I’ve done what it took to twist His arm far enough to make Himself known
    • NO – Acts 9 says Paul was breathing out murder and hatred against Jesus and those who follow Him
      • he was not who was not sitting on the fence
      • His mind was made up — He was against Jesus all He stands for
      • to THIS PERSON God revealed that His Son was IN him
    • Paul’s whole passion was this Jesus who was revealed IN him is the Jesus he wants to unveil IN every person he encounters
      • but you first have to make this truth your truth – understanding that Christ is in you, as you and through you, that as He is so are you in the earth – and then you can reveal Him IN others.
      • Jesus said in Jn 14:20 – on that day (when I am resurrected) you will know that I am in the Father, and you are in me and I am in you.
        • the resurrection resulted in Him being in us… not when you believed and “asked Him to come into your heart.”
        • Jesus’ desire was for us to know – ginisko to know; 1st hand, intimate knowledge;
          • His truth becoming your truth
  • and Paul goes on in verse 10 with the intention now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known to the principalities and powers through the church
  • what’s he talking about?
    • God’s truth becoming our truth
    • and then church declaring it, making it known to the principalities and powers
  • God’s manifold wisdom declared through (dia – completely, successfully through) the church
    • Manifold is many diverse manifestations; ultra-diverse with a multitude of expressions – the full stature of Christ in you, and you, and you, etc.!
    • Mirror Bible says: The church acts like a prism that disperses the varied magnitude of God in human form.
  • Declared and made known to the principalities and powers
    • Now don’t read that and think that these principalities and powers have any power
      • Remember, Colossians 2:15 having disarmed (stripped) the rulers and authorities, he made a show of them in public having triumphed over them.
      • And, Hebrews 2:14 says that through His death He destroyed the one who had the power of death, that is the devil.
    • These are simply false appearances of “powers” that were a result of Adam’s fall – sickness, death, poverty, disease, lack, etc.
    • So what is he saying?
      • The church is the expression of Christ in them, as them and through them, declaring to every man, helping them to understand that Christ is in them and they don’t ever have to be sick again, depressed again, poor again, etc.
  • BUT then he says in v. 11, that it’s according to the purpose of the ages, which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord
    • Accomplished – Done – FINISHED!
  • Problem is we still think we need to BECOME what we already are
    • what an exercise in futility
    • and why don’t we ever seem to attain it?
    • Why doesn’t His truth become a reality in our experiences?
      • because our minds are busy with the process of BECOMING something
      • instead of simply BEING who He said we ALREADY ARE
      • and allowing that to be the confession, experience and expression of our lives
  • Yes, he said in the world you’d encounter tribulations
    • Meaning that you would bump into things contradictory to His finished work
      • “powers” IN APPEARANCE ONLY!
      • Because there is only ONE Power – HIM and He is SEATED!
  • So, in other words sickness and disease might bump up against you but what is your response?
    • He’s SEATED – I’m SEATED with Him
    • ALL things are under His feet therefore ALL things are under my feet
      • It doesn’t have to be a DAILY confession… or even a daily reminding – unless it needs to be
      • when the revelation and understanding is there, and you’ve accepted it, it doesn’t need to be acknowledged over and over again
  • When His truth becomes your truth
    • just go on with life despite the FALSE APPEARANCES!
    • because He’s seated and we’re seated FAR ABOVE
III. Raised and Seated with Him
  • Col 3:1: If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ SITS on the right hand of God.
    • this word IF is a word that many times is more appropriately translated FOR AS MUCH AS
    • it isn’t a question of whether you’re raised with Christ
      • Ephesians 2:6: And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
      • Hosea 6:3 On the third day He will raise us up
    • so this isn’t an IF in the sense of being conditional.
      • but rather FOR AS MUCH AS you were raised with Christ
        • He’s saying for as much as your were raised with Christ, THEN you are already seated with Him at the right hand of God
  • He says here to seek those things which are above
    • above means “the on top thing”
    • in other words, the things that demonstrate you’re “on top” status
    • what Paul is saying is set your mind on the fact that you’re on top… on the completed work, on the finished condition not on things of the earth
  • NOW LISTEN… when he says things of the earth he’s telling you not even on the earthly ministry of Jesus
    • Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:16 that even though we have known Christ after the flesh, NOW we are not to know Him that way
  • Remember this series is on the relevant healing ministry of Jesus in the New Testament
    • Which is everything the Lord accomplished to produce WHOLENESS in every aspect of our lives
  • Paul is saying not to focus on the earthly ministry of Jesus
    • because when we do we focus on the healings, the deliverances, etc
  • Remember Hebrews 8:1 Go to the tally, the main thing, the sum…. HE IS SEATED AND YOU ARE SEATED WITH HIM!
    • This is where He is right now AND where you are right NOW
IV. Closing
  • The traditional message of the healing ministry of Jesus takes us into the Gospels, which is fine, but then we tend to see ourselves as blind Bartimaeus, the woman with the issue of blood, Jairus, etc.
    • but the only way we can go successfully into the Gospels and discern what is taking place, is if we go back into the Gospels and see ourselves as the Jesus of the Gospel
      • not the “beggars” of the Gospels
  • Heb 6:1: Therefore, leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God
    • here’s what he’s saying… go on to perfection, go onto the finished things
      • go on to considering ONLY our finished perfection in Him
  • 1 Jn 4:17 as He is so are also WE in this world
    • we are as redeemed naturally as we are spiritually and it’s time we begin to live that way
    • IT IS FINISHED
      • He was raised AND we were raised
      • He is SEATED and we are SEATED with Him
      • ALL things are under His feet THEREFORE ALL things are under our feet
  • You are NOT the sick trying to get healed…. You are whole
  • You are NOT poor trying to get rich…. You are whole
  • You are NOT a sinner saved by grace…. You are whole
  • WHOLE – nothing WHOLE – nothing missing, nothing broken… lacking nothing, COMPLETE in Him.
