Healing part 3 — Sickness and Disease severed

I. Severed

Exodus 8:23: I will make a difference between My people and your people….

  • remember this is written for our instruction so that we may have a confident expectation of success in every area of our lives… an expectation of wholeness!

v. 23: I will make a difference — KJV says I will put a division between My people and your people

    • Hebrew word is peduth meaning ransom; or redemption; also, deliverance
        • The ROOT is padah meaning TO SEVER!
    • It says between My people and your people
    • Who are Pharoahs people?
        • Egyptians – they are a type of death or the effects of sin
        • In other words, they are the attributes of death – sickness, disease, poverty, fear, etc.
    • He’s saying is I’m going to put a division… I’m going to SEVER the association between My people and sickness
        • sever the association between My people and poverty
        • sever the association between My people and fear, disease, addiction, etc.
        • between My people and your people – the Egyptians
        • Between My people and death!
        • I’m going to put a division… I’m going to SEVER it
    • another translation says I will set a Mediator between My people and your people
        • the Greek word for mediator means agent of Goodness!!
        • He is the agent of Goodness… He cancelled the condition of sin and because of the effects of death (it’s attributes) were also cancelled.
    • He’s not just praying that we make it through – praying that our faith is strong enough to get us through sickness, disease, etc.
        • NO – His blood made an impassable barrier between sin the condition and death (sickness, disease, poverty, etc)
        • Sickness and disease cannot pass over to us!
    • He is our Jehovah Rapah – the Lord our Health – the Lord our WHOLENESS!
    • He set the Red Sea as a division, a severing between God’s people and Egyptians
        • He set His blood as a division, a severing between us and sickness, disease, poverty, etc.
    • We’ve missed this truth because we’ve looked at Egypt as a type of the world instead of sin
        • Which caused us to see ourselves as set apart, divided from the world
    • He set His blood as a division, a severing between us and sickness, disease, poverty, etc. that came as a result of SIN – the condition
      • Exodus 9 and 10 record the plagues that came on Egypt but did not touch Israel
      • Death – it’s attributes of sickness, disease, poverty, fear, etc. could not touch them or anything that belonged to them
      • Darkness could not touch them
    • Because God had made a distinction, a severing between them and the Egyptians (death)

Exodus 11:4-7: And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: (5) And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts. (6) And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more. (7) But against none of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.

    • That you MAY KNOW that the LORD does put a difference – that He SEVERED the association of the Egyptians and Israel
    • who are the Egyptians again?
        • the effects of sin – the attributes of death – sickness, disease, poverty, fear, etc.
    • He SEVERED the association of the attributes of death and His people
        • He made a distinction between you and cancer – severed any association with it!
        • between you and whatever disease, circumstance, or situation you may be facing
    • He made a severing between the condition of sin AND man
        • He separated or SEVERED the two — sin is not an issue with God
        • He severed the connection ONCE AND FOR ALL!
    • He sees you whole in Christ NOT in sin – sin, the condition, was severed 2000 years ago!
    • He made a division… and that division is the difference between sickness and health; between tragedy and safety
    • We have to get this

1 Peter 1:5 says we are protected by the power of God through faith

    • The power of God guards us, we are protected by His power through the faith of Jesus – it’s His faith we live by, not our own (Gal 2:20)
        • we either believe that or we will yield to sickness, disease, poverty, fear, etc.
    • that division – that severing, allows us to dwell in perfect peace
        • allows us to know that a 1000 may fall at our side and 10k at our right hand but it shall not come near us!
        • it is the difference between poverty and wealth; between addiction and freedom; between health and disease;

II. No More Forever

There’s a tremendous truth here in the actual story of the exodus

Ex 14: 10-14: And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. 11And they said unto Moses, Because, there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? 12Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. 13And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

    • This is after Pharaoh released them and now, he’s changed his mind and is pursuing them
    • Their response is in verses 11 and 12:  (11) And they said unto Moses, Because, there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? (12) Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
        • they have an association with Egypt (sin) that they haven’t yet relented of
        • this new life doesn’t come easy to their thinking… they still have a slave mentality
        • they still see their association with the Egyptians as easier and better than the wilderness
    • v. 12 let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians, for it would’ve been better for us to serve the Egyptians than we should die in the wilderness.
        • remember, Egyptians is a type of the effects of sin; attributes of death – sickness, disease, poverty, etc.
    • Moses’ response is verse 13-14:  Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. (14) The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
        • fear not
        • stand still – remain or abide, take your stand in the truth that you are no longer IN Egypt no longer slaves of Egypt
        • AND see — you may be seeing with your natural eyes the pursuit of the Egyptians BUT see instead – perceive and understand the salvation of the Lord
    • Then Moses tells them why…. Because the Egyptians you shall see today you shall see them NO MORE FOREVER!
    • Why?
        • Because the Egyptians were about to die in the Red Sea
    • Remember this was written for our admonition – for our mind placement – that we might have a confident expectation of success… of wholeness in every area of our lives
        • We are to fear not, to remain or abide, take your stand in the truth that you are no longer IN sin (condition) no longer slaves of sin, and to understand the sozo of the Lord – the deliverance, healing, prosperity, wholeness in every area, nothing missing, nothing broken that we have IN HIM.
        • And we are to understand that because of the impassable sea of blood – we see sickness, disease, poverty, etc. (Egyptians) no more forever!
        • Our natural eyes may think we see them pursuing us but the reality for us is verse 30 — Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
        • We are no longer slaves to sin (condition) separated from us by an impassable sea of blood
            • and all sickness, disease, poverty, etc. is dead on the seashore!
    • Problem is that we as Believers don’t believe that today
        • we believe we’re well until the next time we get sick and need healing
        • we believe we’re prosperous until the next time we lack… until the next time the economy sags
        • we’re up and down and up and down – judging from our circumstances instead of God’s truth
    • BUT God said NO MORE FOREVER!
        • All we need to do is REST in that – no need to fight for it or to keep it
    • Moses said in v. 14: The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
        • Hold your peace – altogether cease in the Hebrew
        • IT IS FINISHED – tetelestai – a battle term that meant lay your weapons down and go home because the battle is over!
        • All for us to do is simply rest in that finished work and walk in our wholeness

v. 26-28: And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. (27) And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, (28) and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

    • Remember Red Sea is a type of the blood of Christ
    • He overthrew the Egyptians (death – sickness, disease, lack, etc)
        • overthrow is naar in Hebrew meaning to shake off; ROOT is to growl; through the idea of the rustling of mane, which usually accompanies the lion’s roar);
        • He shook off those things – the Lion of Judah roared IT IS FINISHED and shook off sickness, disease, poverty, etc.
    • v. 28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; not so much as one of them remained!
        • look at the last part of v. 28… not so much as one of them remained!
        • not so much as ONE OF THEM remained
            • NOT ONE DISEASE!! NOT ONE SICKNESS! NOT ONE MEASURE OF LACK!
            • NOT ONE REMAINED
        • swallowed up by the sea – by the blood of Jesus
            • 1 Cor 15:54: …. Death (sickness, disease, poverty, etc.) is swallowed up (devoured; destroyed;consumed)  in victory!
        • remained is shaar in Hebrew – to be left over; survive;
            • nothing of death remained or survived
            • ALL that came as a result of Adam’s disobedience – sickness, disease, poverty, fear, etc. (death) COMPLETELY swallowed up (destroyed) by the blood of Jesus!
            • NONE of it remains!

III. Enemy COMPLETELY destroyed

Heb 2:14-15: Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him (Pharaoh if you will) that had the power of death, that is, the devil; (15) And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

1 Jn 3:8 for this purpose was the Son of God manifest to DESTROY THE WORKS of the devil

    • so not only did He destroy him – Pharaoh – who had the power of death
    • but He destroyed the Egyptians – the works of death… the works of the devil — ALL of them
        • NOT ONE OF THEM REMAINED
    • you must learn to see them dead on the seashore — you must learn to pronounce them dead on the seashore
        • you must begin to confront the temptation and the opportunity to yield to sickness, disease, lack, etc. with a declaration (confession) of DEAD ON THE SEASHORE
        • OVERTHROWN IN THE WATERS OF THE RED SEA
        • RENDERED ABSOLUTELY POWERLESS

Psalm 105:37: He also brought them out with silver and gold, and there was NONE feeble among His tribes

    • feeble is kasha meaning to NONE stumbling, staggering, bereaved, cast down or caused to fail!
    • Remember written for our admonition — He brought US out NONE FEEBLE
    • We’ve got to begin to believe that NONE FEEBLE — when we appear to be stumbling, bereaved, cast down or failing – we have to remember He brought us OUT!
        • until we break through and break out of our old ways of thinking
        • until we’re renewed in the spirit of our mind – believing that what He says is true regardless of what we see reflected in our own lives
        • this is the only way it will ever begin to work – revelation of none feeble
    • it’s only in the futility of our own minds that we resuscitate dead Egyptians
        • in the futility of our own thinking – we give life or power to sickness, disease, lack, etc.

Psalm 106:10-12: And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them,

    • who was it that hated them?
        • Pharaoh
    • cont….and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. (11) And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
        • this is written hundreds of years after the Red Sea event — and these people still believed it
        • they believed there was not one of the Egyptians that pursued them left
    • v. 12: Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
    • so here’s the thing — if we’ve been redeemed -and we say we have — then it’s a fact that the waters (the blood of Jesus) have covered (destroyed) our enemies
        • ALL OF THEM
        • sickness and disease included — they’re dead upon the seashore NOW, today!
        • NOT ONE OF THEM IS LEFT
        • praise is to tell the story! That’s the story we are to be singing! SICKNESS AND DISEASE IS DEAD ON THE SEASHORE – NONE OF IT IS LEFT IN MY LIFE!

IV. Closing

Ezekiel 30:21-23 Son of man, I have broken the arm (strength, force and power) of Pharaoh king of Egypt (sin – condition); and, lo, it shall not be bound up to be healed, to put a roller to bind it, to make it strong to hold the sword.

    • Sin the condition destroyed!
    • And the accuser (Pharaoh) of sin destroyed!
        • not even strong enough to hold a sword – to hold a weapon against you

Matt 2:15: And was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out OF Egypt I called My Son.”

    • this speaks personally of you
    • remember Jesus is always a reflection of you — He came to reveal to you who you are
    • Out of Egypt have I called My son
        • He called you out OF sin (condition)
    • and the first thing He did after bringing you out of Egypt as we saw in Exodus 15 was to declare disease a thing of the past life – the life that was enslaved to the condition of sin
        • and declared Himself the Lord your HEALTH – the Lord YOUR WHOLENESS!
